Aluminium windows. A long-lasting, profitable investment.
Although the initial cost is greater, the main feature of an aluminium window is its elegance and strength. Being significantly stronger than PVC, you can get a slimmer frame allowing more room for the light to shine through. The fact that it is made of aluminium with a thermal barrier also provides excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. The exterior and interior finish can also be of different colors to better reflect the decor of your home. Finally, aluminium windows have a 60-year lifespan on average and are very easy to maintain.
Despite the higher initial cost, the main feature of an aluminum window is its elegance and sturdiness. Being much more resistant than PVC, you can obtain a thinner frame, which leaves all the room for the glazing, allowing greater luminosity. The exterior and interior finish can also be in different colors to better reflect your home’s decor.
Hybrid windows
A hybrid window is a window that attempts to strike a balance between price and aesthetics. It features a PVC frame with a thin, non-structural aluminum cladding on the exterior. This cladding provides the aesthetic advantages of aluminum, such as custom color, while minimizing the risk of fading.But be careful! A hybrid window offers you the exterior aesthetics of aluminum, but not its durability and interior aesthetics. It also offers fewer choices of models. It is also more difficult to produce large windows or large bay windows because they require more rigidity.
PVC windows
At first glance, the generally lower price of PVC sash windows may be appealing. However, when confronted with its limited durability of 15 to 20 years combined with the risk of heat distortion and white fading under the sun’s rays, it becomes more off-putting. In addition, to meet structural standards related to the less solid composition of the product, the window sizes available are smaller and more limited. Finally, not to mention the more limited choice of designs and colors, the PVC window option that once seemed advantageous is suddenly less so.
